Our Kindergarten “Q” and “U” Wedding!

This past week we reviewed letters "Q" and "U"!

We heard the story of Princess Q (who made no sound) and Prince U, who was lonely!

Pastor Snow officiated and married our Q and U! (We drew names and Lily and Levi were our Princess and Prince!)

Q and U repeated their vows,

exchanged rings (pops!),

and were pronounced "husband and wife", forever together, to spell lots and lots of QU words!

We all celebrated with wedding cake and punch!

We, the Guests, are all from Alphabet Town!

The cake was delicious and we LOVED blowing our horns!

Congratulations, Q and U!!!

Happy Easter!

We read and acted out the Easter story!

It began on Palm Sunday, when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey!

People waved palm branches and hailed Him as KING!

We made Resurrection cookies. The recipe reminds us of Jesus' death and Resurrection!

We beat the pecans just like Jesus was beaten by Herod's soldiers.

While on the cross, Jesus was given vinegar when He was thirsty, It smells AWFUL!

We tasted salt, as it represents the tears of His followers as He died!

The Gospel (the Good News) is sweet like sugar! Jesus died for us so we may life eternally!

The Resurrection cookies were bright white like the angels at the tomb, and EMPTY, like the tomb!

We celebrated with our "He Is Risen" party!

We played "(Pin)Tape the Tail on Peter Cottontail", frosted and enjoyed Easter cookies,

made fun Easter crafts,

raced with eggs in spoons,

and hunted for Easter eggs in our Library!

What JOY we have in our RISEN LORD! Happy Easter!

Thank you, God, for Lutheran Schools and our Grandparents!

What a wonderful week at Holy Cross Lutheran School! Here are grades K, 1 and 2 practicing for our Spring Concert!

Here is our kindergarten class the evening of our beautiful concert! (Thank you to our music director, Mrs. Franson!)

This week we began our PLANT unit and watched Jack and the Beanstalk,

talked about "how bean plants grow", cut out "bean houses" or "Little Sprout Houses" and placed bean seeds in moist ziploc bags!

We "planted" them by our back entrance doors! We will check on their progress after Spring Break!

On Friday, we welcomed our Grandparents and Special Loved Ones! We drew pictures of them!

After an "All-School Program" in our gym, we had fun in our classrooms! Here we are making "Rainbows in a Jar!"

Here we played at our Light Table,

played with Marble Works,

our Sensory Table with Gardening Tools,

and checkers!

We also love "Don't Break the Ice"! (we read words on the ice cubes before we "break" them!)

Here's our parade of some of our special families:

Thank you, God, for a special week in our school.               HAPPY SPRING (and break),  EVERYONE!

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

We celebrated Dr. Seuss' s birthday, ALL WEEK!

In Morning Work we "did Seuss work" and spelled "Seuss words" out of play doh!

We read from "The Cat in the Hat" and dressed like the Cat!

In Math, we measured the Cat and other characters with linking cubes and partners!

It took just 3 days to make the Grinch smile! Our "acts of kindness" made us ALL smile!

After watching "Green Eggs and Ham", we tasted some!

Most of us liked them!!!

After reading "One Fish Two Fish", we enjoyed some fish! Thank you, Mrs. Wilson!

We estimated how many goldfish were in a container, and Elikya was closest! Congratulations!

We played Dr. Seuss coding games in Computer Lab,

they were SO fun!!!

We printed our names and addresses on envelopes. We will receive Dr. Seuss erasers soon "in the mail!"

At center time we played a Math Truffula Tree game,

played a "Cat in the Hat" game,

read lots of Dr. Seuss books,

"hid Wockets" (and found them!),

and laughed A LOT!!!

We had a fun week!

Thank you, God, for authors like Dr. Seuss!

Hail to the Chief!

Hail To The Chief Video

Thomas Jefferson

Harry S. Truman

William Howard Taft

Grover Cleveland

The kindergartners drew a President's name out of Abraham Lincoln's stovepipe hat! They wrote 1, 2 or 3 sentences to share with our class!

They all did a GREAT job sharing "fun facts" with us!

After hearing lots of stories about George Washington and Abe Lincoln this month, we chose our favorite and wrote one "fun fact" in our journal!

We painted some beautiful stars and flags,

and hung them in the hallway!

Come read and learn about our Presidents!

Abe Lincoln was 6 feet 4 inches tall! (without his hat!)

We celebrated the end of our unit with a U.S.A. flag cake!

We added blueberries and strawberries!

We ALL gave it a "thumbs up!"

Thank you, God, for our Presidents!

Please guide and lead them! AMEN!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

On the day we observed Ash Wednesday, we also celebrated Valentine's Day. How fitting! "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him, should not perish, but have eternal life."

We passed out our Valentines in the hallway during our afternoon party!

Other fun Valentine party centers were: Twister,

making a beautiful Valentine bracelet,

playing Valentine bingo with prizes,

and frosting and eating delicious HEART cookies! YUM!!!

Thanks to ALL of our Moms and Dads for joining us and helping with our party!

built a 100-cup Tower...

danced the Macarena with Dr. Jean as we counted to 100...

counted 100 steps from our classroom and  ended up at  Mr. B's classroom!!!

We read about Miss Bindergarten's Kindergarten and THEIR 100th day...

Happy Epiphany!

We learned about the Wise Men coming to see Jesus! They followed the Bethlehem Star on camels! We did, too!

We sang as we brought OUR gifts to Him!

What were the gifts we brought?

We wrote: "my love", "a cross", "a necklace", "some of my toys", "a kitty", "all of my kindness", "my thanks for dying on the cross", "gold", "my dog", "all of my love", "the star", "my heart and my love"...

We knelt like the Wise Men did. to praise our Savior/King!

We came back to our room and made our own Bethlehem Stars!

"Oh, come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord"!
