planting carrot seeds in egg cartons,

"planting" in our sensory table,

copying teddy bear patterns,

playing Alphabet Bingo,

matching objects to beginning consonants on our rug,

creating with straws,

dressing up as Community Helpers,

Our Q and U Wedding!

Today, we had the "Exquisite Wedding" of Q and U!

We heard the story of how Q and U were lonely, but when they met they ALWAYS wanted to be together!

To ensure they could always spell words together, we got ready for their wedding!

Princess Q had her Maid of Honor help her get ready!

Prince U had his Best Man help him get ready, too!

The guests were all invited from "Alphabet Town"! Can you read their names?! (letters?!)

Q and U listened intently!

They exchanged rings, too!

After the ceremony was over, the guests rang their bells and cheered! "QU Qu Qu Qu!!!"

May Q and U make many words together!

The cake at the reception...

was enjoyed by...

...EVERYONE!

"Congratulations, Q and U!"

We Celebrate Dr. Seuss!

In early March, we celebrated Dr. Seuss' Birthday!

We love listening to and reading his books!

Each day we read one of his books and did a fun activity! Here is a "Roll and Color" Birthday Math sheet in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday!

After reading "One Fish, Two Fish", we estimated how many goldfish were in a fishbowl! Ezekiel won!!!

All week we performed "acts of kindness" to help the Grinch smile!

Yea! We had a VERY kind week!

In Computer class we played "Cat in the Hat" literacy games!

We guessed if we'd like "green eggs and ham" (after reading the story) and most of us did!

We ALL love Dr. Seuss!

Thank you, God, for Dr. Seuss' WONDERFUL books!

Grandparent’s Day FUN!

We sang "Martin's Doors" with the First and Second Graders Thursday, March 6. . It was BEAUTIFUL!

Earlier Thursday, we had some Grandparent readers!

What a nice surprise!

The next day was Grandparent's Day!  We played with the light table, marbleworks, Don't Break the Ice game, and made Sand Necklaces and Sand Jars!

God, thank You for Lutheran Schools, Grandparents and Your Son, Jesus, our Savior!

We celebrate PRESIDENTS’ DAY!

We enjoyed our Presidents' Day unit!

We drew a President's name out of Abe Lincoln's stovepipe hat, and printed 1, 2 or more FUN FACTS about them!

We colored a cover for our "report" and invited our 8th grade "chapel buddies" to hear a few!

We sang "Hail to the Chief" as our Presidents stepped forward!

After our Presidents were finished, "Congress" clapped! Then we worked on a White House craft together!

Together we colored, cut and glued a pretty White House windsock!

When our crafts were finished, we enjoyed a FLAG cake! After the 8th graders return from Washington D.C., THEY will share with us their experience!

This week we journaled about our President,

read them to our class,

built log cabins at center time, (many were born in them!)

and even did a PENNY experiment! Which solution cleans a dirty penny the best?!

Vinegar/salt, ketchup, soapy water, water, soda...

Olivia guessed correctly!

KETCHUP!!!

Here are some of our Presidents! (Check out their reports in our hallway!)

Thank you, God, for Presidents. Please watch over and guide them and bless our nation!

Happy 100th Day!

Friday was our 100th day of school! We celebrated all day with fun activities! Here are our collections:

We displayed them in the hallway!

We also made bowls with our favorite ice cream, with 100 "sprinkles"!  Yum!!!

Then at our tables,  we made  20-link chains!  Our 5 tables together made a 100-link chain!

We rotated through first and second grade and kindergarten for fun centers, then watched a 100-minute movie!

Thank you, God, for 100 Days of Learning!

EPIPHANY – The Coming of the Magi

We learned about the Wise Men who brought gifts to young Jesus!

We rode our camels to the town of Bethlehem, singing all the way, and brought our gifts to Jesus!

We brought Him gifts, such as:  "my love", "a cheeseburger", "hugs", "my toys", "a bunny", "hugs and kisses", "my love"...

During center time, some of us designed "a star" in honor of the Bethlehem Star!

HAPPY EPIPHANY, JESUS!

Gingerbread Christmas!

Gingerbread Week we heard LOTS of stories of "The Gingerbread Man!"

We formed Gingerbread words with wikki stix at Daily Five centers...

played with "Gingerbread" in our Sensory table...

helped roll out Gingerbread dough, cut out cookies, baked and ate them...

and made Gingerbread Nativities!  (The REAL Reason for the Season!) See Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus inside?!

Then we designed Gingerbread glyphs.  We showed whether we were  girls or boys... our number of buttons  showed whether we liked the taste of Gingerbread or not...our nose color showed whether we liked the story ending where the Gingerbread Man got eaten, and our bow showed our favorite color!

Here is our glyph.  Do YOU like Gingerbread?!!!  Merry Christmas!
